Technical Roles
Data Platform Operator
The Operator position at Anant enables many of the technical processes vital to our company. The Operator works with a team to ensure the functionality of our internal and external systems and ensures client satisfaction via maintenance of our many platforms and systems. They are responsible for the management of modern data platforms that comprise raw data stores (data lakes) and cleansed data repositories in relational and non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Cassandra/Datastax, populated by batch (Spark) or streaming data pipelines (Spark, Kafka Streams).
Responsibilities
- Administer configuration of all software services into various different environments.
- Prepare equipment for operations by accessing software on the computer.
- Perform defined tasks per documented instructions/processes.
- Monitor and manipulate daily system jobs.
- Maintain operations by monitoring error and stoppage messages, observing peripheral equipment, and making adjustments in the process.
- Evaluate and document all operating systems according to required standards and requests in reports to be presented to management.
- Analyze all platform level changes and monitor impact and provide appropriate technical solutions to resolve all issues efficiently.
- Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and tests and following manufacturer’s instructions.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions and maintain incident logs for all monitored systems.
- Respond to incoming telephone calls, email, and voice mail inquiries regarding computer-related problems.
- Resolve user problems by answering questions and requests.
- Maintain client confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Data Platform Engineer
The Data Engineer participates in the design and build of modern data products that comprise raw data stores (data lakes) and cleansed data repositories in relational and non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Cassandra/Datastax, populated by batch (Spark) or streaming data pipelines (Spark, Kafka Streams). The Data Engineer works with a team to create a robust, sustainable and flexible design and leads the technical delivery.
Responsibilities

Developing and managing data processes to ensure that data is available and usable

Creation and automation of data pipelines and platforms

Managing and monitoring data quality via automated testing frameworks

Working closely with Architects, Engineers, Data Scientists, and DevOps to design, build, test, deliver, and maintain sustainable and highly scalable data solutions

Researching data acquisition and evaluating suitability

Integration of data management solutions into client environment

Actively managing risks to data and ensuring there is a data recovery plan

Building data repositories such as: data warehouses, data lakes, and operational data stores, etc.
Data Platform Architect
The Data Platform Architect leads the design and build of modern data products that comprise raw data stores (data lakes) and cleansed data repositories in relational and non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Cassandra/Datastax, populated by batch (Spark) or streaming data pipelines (Spark, Kafka Streams). The Data Architect works with a team to create a robust, sustainable and flexible design and leads the technical delivery.
Responsibilities

Designing, Developing and managing data architecture and processes to ensure that data is available and usable

Analyze business requirements, as well as the industry trends, and translate them into high level information architecture designs based on best practices;

Creation and automation of data pipelines and platforms for DataOps

Managing and monitoring data quality via automated testing frameworks

Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders and various IT data practice teams to define transitional and target state data architectures;

Ensure DevOps processes to design, build, test, deliver, and maintain sustainable and highly scalable data solutions

Researching data acquisition and evaluating suitability

Integration of data management solutions into client environment

Actively managing risks to data and ensuring there is a data recovery plan

Project Manager
The Project Manager leads small teams working on client or internal projects. They use project management tools like Jira to create and assign epics, stories, tasks, sub-tasks, and bug fixes. They serve the technical team that they support by communicating with Anant and client leadership to ascertain the definition of done and provide feedback for their team.
Responsibilities
- Has full responsibility and accountability for the project
- Applies lessons learned from recent projects
- Defines project roles and responsibilities
- Leads the project planning activities
- Performs project tracking
- Manages considering project priorities
- Performs risk management
Role Progression
At Anant we consider the typical path “Operator -> Engineer -> Architect” with Project Management tasks occurring at many stages of your progression at Anant.
We strive to provide training to help you move from one role to the next. If you start from near scratch with us, we’d expect an approximately 5-year process to become an Architect.
