While Trello itself comes with several powerful core features, it has also kept its API open so that any third parties can develop customized features and get the most value out it. Here is the list of some of the awesome Chrome extensions that I have been using in my work and have proved very helpful.
Ultimello
Ultimello allows users to sort cards by due date, title, votes, labels, last activity date, creation date or date of appearance on the list. This sorting is temporary and happens only in the user’s interface. It will not alter the original card arrangement so another team member will not be able to see the changes. In addition to the sorting features, it also provides a card count for each list available in the Trello board, which is quite helpful. Recently, they have introduced a new feature to establish a connection between the Trello cards and have been doing BETA testing for it.Trellists
Trellists is a small but very useful Trello tool, especially when working on large projects which usually have several lists on the board. It allows a user to hide irrelevant lists and only keep a few important lists on the screen. For example, a user working on agile projects, which usually have several lists for each sprint that they have gone through in the past few months, can use this tool to hide already completed sprint lists. After adding this chrome extension, you can see a clickable list menu (gray for hidden lists, white for visible lists) next to the board title.List Layouts for Trello
If you have ever gotten bored of seeing all the lists lined up horizontally or wanted to stack lists vertically to make them visible on the screen, you can easily do all that using the List Layouts chrome extension. You can use the extension’s toolbar button to switch back and forth between the default horizontal layout and the new vertical one.Scrum for Trello
Scrum for Trello is an important Trello extension that adds useful functionalities for managing Scrum projects. It includes features for displaying burndown chart links, estimate buttons, and others. To optimize collaboration, everyone in the Scrum team should install the extension to be able to maximize features such as story points.Gmail-to-Trello
Gmail-to-Trello chrome extension allows a user to directly create a Trello card from their Gmail account. Once the extension is added, a user can see an extra ‘Add card’ button on the Gmail UI to add the email being read to a Trello card.
TrelloExport
The TrelloExport extension allows users to export their data in various formats such as Excel, HTML, OPML, and Markdown. It also provides the option to export items such as Archived cards, Comments, Checklists, Attachments, and Custom fields separately. After installation, users can find the export option in the sidebar. It appears below the default export options under the More, Print, and Export menu option.
Multiselect for Trello
Multiselect for Trello allows users to manage and modify multiple cards simultaneously. It is a time-saving feature where users can select several individual cards or an entire list to work on. They can move, copy, archive or delete cards altogether instead of one at a time. Users can also assign due dates, labels, and add/remove members to those selected cards. An important point that Trello chrome extension users should remember is that browser updates can sometimes cause issues on some extensions. On these occasions, a possible fix is disabling the extension, re-enabling it, and refreshing the browser. Moreover, Trello doesn’t monitor or take responsibility for any third-party app or chrome extensions related issues. So, if something goes wrong with these extensions that negatively impacts your information on Trello, the users will be solely responsible for it.
