This will be a four-part series on utilizing Integromat as an automation platform with an introduction and three demos surrounding one scenario, which encompasses operations, marketing, and customer experience.
Integromat is a powerful automation platform that helps users automate manual processes with minimal coding knowledge required. It has direct support for hundreds of apps and services, and if there isn’t support for what the user needs, Integromat also has HTTP/SOAP and JSON modules to allow the user to connect to almost any web service. Integromat also allows users to create their own apps through their Developer Platform. Some UI differences between Integromat and another popular automation platform, Zapier, is that Integromat has a left-to-right workflow vs the top-down block structure that Zapier has. So in some complex automations, Integromat could be more viable in terms of visualizing and understanding the workflow, or scenario as Integromat calls it.
Integromat also provides text and binary functions, date functions, array functions, and number functions, with new ones added regularly.
As a user, you can also choose where to start in terms of which time periods to pull data from.
Integromat also provides hundreds of templates to make setting up automations even easier and also customize them as necessary.
Integromat allows the user to visualize everything in the workflow and watch in real-time how the automation is executed and how the data flows in the scenario.
When you click on those little cloud bubbles, you can see what data was processed and when.
Integromat also provides built-in iterators to allow splitting data into individual bundles so they can be processed separately. Integromat also provides built-in aggregators to merge individual data to create a single bundle.
However, take precautions if using a free-tier account as the user only has 1,000 operations per month, and if the user needs to run iterations on large sets of data, the number of operations will quickly be burnt out.
Another great feature of Integromat is routers. Routers are built-in to let the user duplicate the processed data easily. The scenario can be divided into multiple routes and the data can be processed differently in each route. Additionally, the user can also add filters by clicking the dotted line in-between modules.
Here is a more complex scenario utilizing routers, JSON, aggregators, and other modules:
Integromat also provides error handles to help deal with unexpected exceptions effectively. Error handler routes can be created with custom logic and filters for any module in the scenario. Additionally, if an error occurs, you can apply special commands to specify how the execution will continue.
Overall, Integromat is a powerful tool to utilize if you are looking for an alternative to Zapier or Workato given the capabilities of the free-tier account, user-friendly UI/UX, and HTTP/SOAP and JSON modules. The reason I personally found Integromat is because I was easily able to use the HTTP module on Integromat to do what I needed to do versus using Zapier. However, there are some instances where Zapier was more powerful than Integromat for Hubspot. The information I needed to track from Hubspot was not natively integrated into the Integromat’s Hubspot Module; however, it was natively integrated with Zapier’s Hubspot Module. When comparing Integromat and Zapier in overall scope, the user’s use case and personal preference may play a part as the capabilities, for the most part, are the same. However, some things may be easier to do on one platform versus another. That being said, I do still use both as I mentioned before, as there are some use cases that Zapier is better for and some use cases that Integromat is better for.
